First on the road on this
Killarney Historic Rally,
Dessie Nutt, commented at the
end of the first stage
"It's quite slilppy, we
could have been a little
faster, I was being
canny". Despite some
intercom problems John Farrell
was fastest on the first stage.
Main stories amongst the early
cars were that Philip Wylie
unfortunately crashed his MGB
heavily just after the gap.
Philip and co driver Jim Howe
were reportedly out of the Mg
and displaying the
"OK" board.
Drexel Gillespie's Cortina
stopped for ages. The
points jammed up somehow and
Drexel had to take the
distributor out to fix them.
The car was then going well,
but very late. David Williams
did not appear at stage finish
in his Mini Cooper, initital
reports suggest that the car
had stopped in the stage.
In the Classic section of the
rally Donie O'sullivan was
fastest on 10.05, Philip Shaw
was next up on 10.10.
Phil Collins and Tom Randles
tied for 3rd on 10.11.
Kieran O'Neill in the Kadett
recorded 10.19, Hickey 10.39,
Wesley Patterson 10.46, Padraig
Price, despite 3rd gear
problems, tied with Gareth
Lloyd and Dave Slattery on
10.49. Peter Kelly is
reportedly stopped.
