"They were definitely different sort of conditions today" commented Peadar Hurson when he brought his Toyota Celica GT4 into the finish here at Rosslare. Peadar and co driver Ian Porter led from start to finish on today's Crosbie Cedars Hotel Wexford Rally. The conditions were very slippy and difficult, and former National Champion Hurson was on top of the job from the word go. Peadar continued ..... "At the heels of the hunt, enjoyed it, it was a good rally, the car went well and I got that early lead, which made all the difference". He joked finally "I'm into my stride now, I wonder would I get an entry in Banna tomorrow!". Tim McNulty turned in a real scorcher of a time in the end to reinforce his 2nd place, and he commented "I softened the suspension in the Subaru a little, kept the driving neat and tidy, plenty of cuts in the tyres to put through the mud and it just made the difference". Third placed Maurice Gass, out for the first time in his new Subaru said "It was good to get the miles done, the new car feels very good, a lot more to come".

David James in fourth place was also highest placed two-wheel drive car and wins his class. David commenting at the end "The misfire from earlier was something to do with the throttle sensor, but we had two very big moments on that last stage and I thought the rally might have been over for us. One was on the big jump and the other was on a 5 right were we ended up assways into the ditch". William Carroll turned in a stunning time on the final stage, despite his Escort Cosworth having clutch troubles, and he moved into 5th place just pipping Willie O'Dwyer. John Nolan put in a very strong drive to take 7th and move ahead of Jimmy Lambert to take second in the class. Tom Holton was happy enough to finish 9th and he said he really enjoyed the day. Kieran Molloy takes the GpN award and 10th overall. We are still waiting for the times for the Ka's ..... but on the information we have John Carroll and Diarmuid Falvey have won from Gerry Keyes ..... this is very provisional - John Carroll could well have taken the Triton Showers South East Championship.

Just outside the leaderboard we have Derek Smith on 30.46 in his Escort BDX, Trevor Culbert had a good run and his total is 30.27. Sean McArdle finished on 30.55. James and Ann Foley finished with 31.39 and they should win their class in the Civic. Donal Bowens in the GpN Lancer had a total of 31.19, Willie Fannin 31.47, they should be 2nd and 3rd in the big GpN category. Many thanks to all in the Wexford Club for their help, and congratulations on a very well run rally under the direction of COC Pat O'Dowd.
