**Ryan Champion shown as 10th above but could be displaced by Shaun Gallagher, but Shaun is running right at the back of the field and we won't have his times for a little while.

Justin Dale increased his lead at the front of the rally with a stunning time through stage 9, faster than all his rivals, 11s better than Wedgbury and 12s better than Andersson. Martin Sansom was well in the hunt but his Peugeot has stopped, and is parked at the end of the stage, reason as yet unknown.
Also retired is Martin Meadows, he decided to pull out when his Satria showed no fuel pressure, and Martin was worried in case the engine would incur damage.

Mats Andersson commented at the end of that stage 9 "I make stupid mistake, not listening to the notes, and where the stage changes from the last time, I go wrong way through the tape. Also I think I picked too soft a compound tyre". Several drivers reported making the same mistake as the Swede as regards turning on to the new section of stage...

Fellow Satria driver, young Ian Barrett, is now lying 5th in the Formula Rally points for today, and had a bit of a "moment" before that stage 9 when the engine cut out and would not restart...happily all is now well.

When Martin Rowe appeared into service he didn't seem happy, and just commented "I don't seem to be getting grip". Justin Dale reported no problems. Garry Jennings who is in the hunt for Peugeot Super 106 Cup points today, suffered some electrical problem in the stage and the engine cut out several times. Ryan Champion, also in the Peugeot Super 106 Cup, reported no
problems but feels that tyre choice is going to be difficult now that the roads are starting to dry. Ryan, along with many drivers, would just be happy to get to the finish intact, and perhaps pick up a few points as well.
Michael Brew continues to lead the Peugeot Super 106 Cup runners and he feels that keeping it neat and tidy is the secret. Shaun Woffinden lost time earlier today when he cracked a rear wheel and bent the rear beam - that has now been fixed and he is starting to creep back on to the pace. Mark Wheeler was lying 3rd in the Ford 1400 Puma championship, but he has knocked a wheel off in that stage 9 and has retired. David Henderson still leads from Guy
Wilks.

In the Ford Ka Championship Darren Snape was top of the table after stage 8, ahead of Edward Pugh and Jack Ingleby. In the VW Polo Challenge after stage 8, Clive Wheeler still leads, but David Bateson has closed to under 9s, Adrian Kermode is 3rd...across in Ireland, Paul Harris in his Subaru  leading the Stonethrowers Rally from Frank Meagher's Focus WRC.
