Unofficial Peugeot Super 106 Cup - Michael Brew has had an earlier time
amended and jumps into the lead, followed by Garry Jennings and then
Rory Galligan.
In the Ford Puma championship David Henderson leads from Guy Wilks from
Mark Wheeler. Darren Snape leads the Ford Ka championship contenders
from Edward Pugh - Ian Forgan has dropped back, his wipers not working
for the last 2 stages.
The Super 1600 category at the front of the rally had it's fair share of
drama through stages 5 and 6. Patrick Magaud had an earlier time
amended which moved him up into 2nd place. No sooner had that happened
than his Puma gearbox jammed in 1st. The Frenchman was passed by
several other drivers and dropped nearly 5 minutes and out of the
leaderboard. On unofficial times we had Mats Andersson fastest
through stage 6 by just a split second from Justin Dale, with Martin
Sansom and Paul Wedgbury very closely in pursuit. Rowe commented at
stage finish "We tried different Pirellis that time and it seemed
to work a bit better". Also on the tyre front, Justin Dale
switched to full wet weather rubber and he thought they worked really
well. Mats Andersson joked that at least he didn't have an
overshoot that time. Martin Sansom reported that he had a good
run, ran just a small bit wide on one corner and lost maybe a fraction
of a second when he had to overtake Magaud'sPuma.
Paul Alexander has retired after an off road excursion. Max McKillen
felt
that he had a better run that time - just one overshoot. Martin
Meadows
finished the stage with sweat lashing off his brow - the power steering
belt
had failed right at the start of stage 5, and as he said himself
"What a
place for it to go!" Garry Jennings finished stage 6 and said
"That was
brilliant, I loved it". Rory Galligan, on the other hand,
said "I'm just trying to stay out of trouble, when you see so many
people having problems it
brings it home to you just how difficult this place is". Ryan
Champion still
says he is going "so so" - Ryan's Peugeot is not handling well
after it's
earlier problem, the car still seems to be out of track.
In the VW Polo Challenge - after 4 stages - Clive Wheeler led from David
Bateson with Adrian Kermode 3rd. Sophie Robinson is 4th of the
Polos....more
