Raymond Munro turned in a stunning time through the very tough Clatteringshaws stage to leapfrog up to 3rd on the leaderboard from an overnight 8th position. Munro's actual time was 14.07.3. Jock Armstrong, still well down the leaderboard after problems yesterday, stopped the clocks on 14.24 and Dave Weston 14.29. Munro commented "Very good stage, very technical". Rally leader Dave Weston told us "We backed off on some of the bigger crests, the 34 year old Aberdonian construction manager saying "We're really trying to geet to the finish now, it's fingers crossed". Brian Bell reckons he wasn't quite committed enough, while group N leader Stuart McQueen's cause was not helped by a puncture for the last 5 miles of the stage. However he has just dropped 1 place and holds on to gpN.

In the battle of the Peugeot Super 106 Cup contenders Rory Galligan was half a second faster than his closest rival Ryan Champion to leave the gap between the two at 36 seconds, with just one stage remaining - Glengap. Galligan commented "We gave it a good go, there was a bit of sun in our eyes at times but otherwise it went well". Daniel Dunbabin held on to his 3rd Peugeot position, just a fraction slower than Champion, co-driver Clive commenting "There was a touch of the red mist about us, a lot of aerial manoeuvring over the big jumps". Garry Jennings was making a break through Black Loch but a rear wheel puncture for most of that stage 9 completely snookered his chances of improvement, and indeed the Ballinamallard youngster did well to keep the time loss down to just over 30s. Simon Hughes was another to have a good time through Clatteringshaws. We have unconfirmed reports that Manx crew Michael Brew and Breeshey Christian have crashed their 106, but no definite news.

Just outside the top 12 we have Richard Sykes in 13th with his Peugeot. Then its Ian Paterson in his Escort Cosworth 14th, Jeremy Nolan 15th in his gpN Lancer and Guy Woodcock 16th in his F2 RS2000.

In the National B category today Car 203 Arron Cruickshank leads from Cockermouth's Paul Benn...
