NB NO TIMES FOR CAR 5 BRENDAN O'HAGAN

Trevor Moore arrived at the end of the 7.3 mile long Cam Stage professing himself happy with his time, which was 8 seconds quicker than his closest pursuer. Trevor saying "we definitely could have gone a bit quicker, just a little bit rusty" though his rivals are a little bit stunned at his pace so early in the rally. Next man up is local driver Richard Hogg, fastest through the first stage by one second, his GpN machine not quite having the legs of the faster GpA car of Moores, though Richard is very happy with his pace.

Not so happy was Denis Biggerstaff after a spin towards the start of stage two when he and co driver Damien McCann got off the notes ever so slightly, the penalty being almost 30 seconds down on Moore, after setting second fastest time on stage one.

Alastair McSkimming and Jim Hoey over from Scotland in their lovely black 6R4, are right on the pace and hold 4th just ahead of Kevin O'Kane in his Impreza. Gary White reports no problems in 3rd overall, though he did admit to being a little bit cautious on the quick stuff in Cam. Glenn Allen is the first major retirement in his Escort Cosworth, the ECU breaking loose on stage one and the bottom arm breaking on stage 2. Although disappointed Glenn's total would have been 10.00 after 2 and considering his problems he was pleased with his times.

Wicklow visitor Noel Driver was off the road in Cam dropping almost a minute to the leaders and had to drive the final couple of miles with a puncture. In GpN although Richard Hogg heads the category a great battle is developing behind between Raymond Johnston and Mark Woodside. Johnston on a total of 9.58 while Mark is in 11th overall on a total of 10.00 despite an overshoot in Cam. Raymond Mason reports no problems in his GpN Impreza and is just behind on a total of 10.04.
