Out at the front of the rally the Super 1600 cars are battling for every second now, with Justin Dale hanging on by the skin of his teeth to his lead, looking over his shoulder at both David Higgins and Martin Rowe. Dale reports no problems, and if he can maintain his position through the 2 Silverstone tests he will take the Formula Rally championship, but anything can still happen. David Higgins has been hampered once again by a misfire, and indeed had to stop his Polo in Enstone, switch off the masterswitch, switch on again to reset the computer. Martin Rowe demolished the timing light at the end of stage 11, which has caused a little concern over the stage times. Martin has also had a problem with a leaky radiator - it was something to do with a piece of plastic rubbing against the matrix, Martin was able to sort it himself.
More after Silverstone...BRIAN
