The Silverstone stages changed the positions at the front of this BanburyRally - Mats Andersson was setting the Formula Rally pace, but his Proton unfortunately stopped with transmission trouble, to allow Justin Dale backinto the  lead.  Justin commented when he reached service here in Banbury ..."We're getting back into it after that earlier spin, everything now going well".  Second placed David Higgins had a fairly worried frown on his face, telling us "We seem to have got a real bad misfire, but otherwise it has gone well".  Martin Rowe was in a panic to get to his service point so we didn't get any more information than we had earlier, that he is worried about his Puma's front suspension.  His Ford team mate, Patrick Magaud has not appeared here in service, and we have an unconfirmed report that his Puma is marooned on a road section with a fuel related problem - this has to be confirmed.

Martin Sansom's Peugeot was still suffering gearbox troubles when he arrived here, Martin is battling for best privateer with Simon Mauger. Paul Wedgbury is out of the equation, having pulled a wheel off his Saxo in Silverstone. Barbara Armstrong is still very happy with the progress of her new 206 - "Great fun".

In the Peugeot Super 106 Cup - Rory Galligan still leads but is coming under increasing pressure from Kris Meeke and Ryan Champion, both of whom were faster through the Silverstone stages.  Ryan had severe gearbox troubles on the way from Silverstone to Banbury, but hopefully the mechanics can get it sorted.  Rory had some fuel surge problems.  Jennings was depressed at his times, co driver James O'Brien saying "We were just a bit too high on a couple of the jumps and just not sharp enough on the lines".

We are still waiting for times for David Lapworth in the gpN Subaru - David and co driver John Spiller were the fastest crew in the rally with the gpN Impreza after stage 5 - but they are running just about last car in the order!
