It is going to be quite a cliff hanger here on the last stage of this Lark in the Park, with Richard Hogg and John McKeown on equal time and tying for the lead after the first 4 stages. Hogg commented after the 4th stage "I lost my rythym, couldn't get going after the big delay sitting in the car through the lunch halt". Hogg dropped 2s to John McKeown's stage 4 time, McKeown saying little but grinning from ear to ear. Many drivers had problems through that 4th test - Ivan Orr, driving Maurice Gass' Subaru completely blew it when he overshot the hairpin, stalled the engine and then it wouldn't restart. "Threw it all away" commented Ivan. Denis Biggerstaff had to select reverse the big tree when he slithered off the track, caught out on a patch of soil and gravel. Sean McArdle admits to making a mess of the last hairpin left, his co driver Ger McMonagle saying "We went straight on, he wasn't listening to me". David McGlaughlin also admitted to making a mess of the hairpin, while Terence McLoughlin had a very small overshoot, it only cost a few seconds, but on this sort of event, with this sort of company, even one second can make all the difference. Kieran Shaw had a spin and then did one lap less than instructed, so Kieran has withdrawn. Eugene Ferry withdrew after his stage 3 episode. Glenn Allen's Escort stopped in stage 4 and Greg McCormick withdrew after stage 3 because of that noise int he gearbox which we mentioned earlier. In gpN Dan McCartan was fastest through stage 4, Seamus Heron was 2nd fastest to draw level with Andrew Stewart on overall classification. Looking outside the Park for a moment..Schumacher qualified on pole at Silverstone from Hakinen then Coulthard, Trulle, Frentzen. More news later..BRIAN & LIZ PATTERSON
