The lead drivers still report the stage here at Lark in the Park very slippery, but Denis Biggerstaff made no repeat of his first stage spin and stall by having a really clean run this time. Denis set a time of 1.27.0..2s faster than either Richard Hogg or Terence McLoughliln, both on 1.29. Dromara man Biggerstaff commented at stage finish "We kept it really clean, stayed on the straight and narrow!" Richard Hogg missed a couple of gear changes on the first stage, this time he just missed one! Hogg only got to drive this Escort Cosworth this morning - he was supposed to be competing in the Robin Perry RS2000 F2 - but Robin rolled the car at Bishopscourt yesterday.

Kieran Shaw was very non-committal at the end of that last stage, still trying to bed himself into the World Rally Escort. Last year's winner Eugene Donelly commented at stage finish "Still slippy, good crack, sosme wild slides!" Ivan Orr forgot to switch on the anti lag system on his Impreza WRC. Jim Crozier blotted his copybook when he slid his Proton off the road, nearly taking one of the RPM cameras with him. David McGlaughlin was struggling a wee bit on his first run in his Escort Cosworth, the 7 speed gearbox was quite a handful. Seamus Heron missed 2nd gear but still set a top gpN time to move into equal 5th overall and equal in the category with Andrew Stewart.

After the first stage Norman Kerr led the Historic section from the similar Mk1 Escort of John Keatley with Mervyn Johnston 3rd in his Mini.

Ivan Stewart reported his Escort Cosworth engine down to 2 cylinders after the first stage and does not appear to have started stage 2. Historics after SS2 - Norman Kerr 3s up on John Keatley,Mervyn Johnston 3rd & Michael Carlin 4th after many spins... More news later. BRIAN & LIZ PATTERSON
